INDUSTRIAL ELECTRONICS > ABOUT

The Industrial Electronics department offers three-year diploma programs in Mechatronics, Process Instrumentation & Control, Electronics & Information Technology and Network Security to meet the demand from various sectors of manufacturing industry in Malaysia. The laboratories are equipped with actual industrial instruments such as Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Hydraulics and Pneumatic, Robotics and CIM, Instrumentation and Control and DCS.

During the first year of training, students are introduced to the fundamental knowledge of Electrical, Electronics, Digital and Computer Programming. Throughout the second year, they are given advanced training related to their chosen program so as to have broad-based applications on technologies like communication, PC-based control, microcontroller, industrial automation, robotics, process control, distributed control system and Object Oriented Programming. Students are also required to undergo in-plant training in their final year as part of the requirements to graduate.

The highlight of each program is the Final Year Project where students need to carry out research, design, install, commission test, demonstrate and present an industrial based project. Communication skills and technical report writing are applied extensively in these projects. The success of the projects will then be evaluated and verified by external verifiers from various backgrounds thus making the program unique and incomparable to other diploma courses.

With the implementation of the multi-disciplinary training concept, aided with areas of specialization, students are undoubtedly grown to be versatile and innovative in performing tasks in the real working environment.
