Financial Services
Financial assistance service is provided by the Student Affairs Section, through the Academic & Record Unit. The unit acts as a liaison between students and sponsors / financial aid providers to ensure the smooth running of application and the payment of scholarships or loans.
Main financial aid providers available for GMI students are as follows:
MAJLIS AMANAH RAKYAT (MARA)
- All Bumiputra students are eligible to apply for the MARA loan.
- However, approval of loan is subject to MARA’s requirement.
- Interested applicants are encouraged to check directly with Bahagian Penganjuran Pelajaran MARA on the current requirement for the education loan.
- Amount and type of loan differs according to applicant’s parents’ annual income and dependencies.
PERBADANAN TABUNG PENDIDIKAN TINGGI NASIONAL (PTPTN)
- All Malaysian students are eligible to apply for the PTPTN loan.
- Applicants must obtain at least a minimum of three (3) credits in SPM.
- Amount of loan approved for the whole duration of Diploma Program is RM 24,000.
SOCSO
- The SOCSO loan is only for those who have not reached 21 years of age, is single and do not have any other sponsors.
- The loan amount approved is subject to their terms and conditions.
EMPLOYEES PROVIDENCE FUND (EPF)
- Students may opt for EPF withdrawal either from their own EPF Account II or their parents account.
- EPF withdrawal can be made on a yearly basis.
- EPF withdrawal can also be used to reimburse fees which have been paid to GMI.
- EPF withdrawal can also be used to settle study loans from loan sponsoring bodies
Counseling Services
Student Affairs Section, through the Counseling Unit, provides a free confidential service to all students It is registered with the Malaysian Board of Counselors.
If you are in need of help, you may want to think of discussing your issue with someone who is trained. By talking through your problems or concerns with a counselor, you may deepen your understanding of what is happening and develop alternative ways of dealing with your situation or concern. It has been our aim to achieve the following objectives:
- Provide professional services to students experiencing emotional crisis.
- Provide counseling services to students to enable them to overcome their personal problems that maybe affecting their academic performance.
- Provide career counseling to students in order to help them make their career choices and to gain skill in career search.
- Provide developmental services through activities, seminars, workshop and courses for student.

Student Activities
The Student Activities at GMI strives to maximize personal growth and development in students by providing a variety of opportunities for involvement, service, and leadership in co-curricular activities. Student Activities supports the academic mission of the institute by working to create experiential learning options outside of the classroom and encouraging students to actively participate in activities.
The Student Affairs Section, through the Student Development Unit supports a wide range of co-curricular activities.
