Prospective Students

GMI welcomes everyone who believes in technical and vocational training, who places great trust in hands-on and practical training, who understands how German technology can pave the way, and who aspires to be a technologist with a difference; the German approach, the GMI training.
Even if one feels that he or she does not have what it takes to be a technologist, through GMI training philosophy and approach, and with state-of-the-art facilities and equipment, GMI will bring the technologist in you.

Application to GMI

Diploma Programmes

All admission applications must be made through GMI Application Form which can be obtained from:

Exhibition booth at education expo.
GMI office (walk-in or by mail).
UPIM online http://www.online.mara.gov.my/upimonline

Applicants are needed to send the completed Application Form to GMI via mail or by hand.

Applicants can also submit an online application by filling in the Online Application Form.

German A-Level Preparatory Programme (GAPP)

Students who wish to apply for GAPP may obtain the application form online at www.mara.gov.my.

Private candidates may obtain the application form from GMI office (walk-in or by mail).

Admission applications for both programs are open all year round. Applications will be processed and forwarded to the nearest upcoming intake.

Example: Applications received in July to November 2009 will be processed for January 2010 intake while applications received in January to June 2010 will be processed for July 2010 intake.

GMI Diploma Program Requirements :

SPM/SPMV
At least 5 credits in :

Bahasa Melayu
Mathamatics or Additional Mathamatics
Either one of Sciences or Technical Subjects
2 other subjects
A pass in English Language

Technical Certificate

Technical Certificate from IKM/ITI/Polytechnics/ other institutions or with Sijil Kemahiran Malaysia Level 2 (recognized by MLVK) and
Passed SPM with at least 3 credits (Bahasa Melayu and 2 other subjects) and pass in English Language.

Pre-Diploma

CGPA of minimum 2.0 and above, and
Passed SPM with at least 3 credits(bahasa Melayu and 2 other subjects) and a pass in English Language

STPM

at least 2 principals

Other Requirements

Malaysian citizen
Must be less than 18 years old upon application
No physical disabilities and must not be colour blind
Pass medical check-up and urine test

Course fee : RM 4,000.00 per semester
Registration fee : RM100.00 per semester

Fees are subject to change/revision.
Tuition Deposit will not be returned if the student cancels his offer acceptence or fails to register on the designated date.
Important : Students interested in obtaining a study loan are given conssesion to pospone the payment of their tuition fees. But, all study loan application business (the preparation of the related documents by the student) must be settled within a 2 week period after registration. (Please refer "Study Loans" sheet for the study loan preparation list and how to apply).

Students will still have to pay the Tuition Fees if :

The student fails to settle study loan application within the given time ( 2 weeks after registration)

The student is not qualified for a study loan. For your information, the qualification for a study loan is subject to the discretion of the loan offerer.

Financial Assistance

Students are only allowed to have one (1) education loan/scholarship from any sponsors at one time during their study period.

Any education loan is subjected to sponsors’ requirement and criteria. Any approvals on students’ education loan/scholarship is under the sponsor’s full jurisdiction and authority. GMI does not have any authority to approve or guarantee any education loan applied by students.

Diploma Program

Currently, GMI only deals with Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) and Perbadanan Tabung Pendidikan Tinggi Nasional (PTPTN) for students’ education loan.

Students are also encouraged to secure any sponsorship from other sponsors at their own capacity and GMI is willing to assist.

German A-Level Preparatory Program

Applicants can apply for MARA or Jabatan Perkhidamatan Awam (JPA) scholarship directly to the sponsors when advertised at students’ own capacity. Currently there is no education loans offered by both sponsors but only scholarship instead.

Students are also encouraged to secure any sponsorship from other sponsors at their own capacity and GMI is willing to assist.

Accomodations

Accomodation

GMI’s admission offer to new students comes with accommodation as well (subject to availability). Students are encouraged to stay in the hostel but it is not compulsory. The hostel is located in Zone A which is also gated and guarded 24-hours a day.

We have 6 high-rise elevated hostel blocks that can accommodate 3,010 students at one time. Basic facilities such as beds, mattresses, wardrobes, study tables and chairs are provided for each unit and each student.

The surau and cafeterias are also located in Zone A. Our surau is also used for the weekly Friday prayers. Students are encouraged to make use the sports facilities located at the Sport Complex which is just a walk away from the hostel.
