GMI has taken steps to sustain its prevalence in technical education by establishing Technology Centres (TC) throughout the campus. This move was propelled in 2002 with the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) signed between GMI and its industry partners. Similar to R&D centres in other higher education institutions, TCs in GMI aim to cultivate new technology which would later emerge nationwide and worldwide by bringing in new ideas and skills from staff and trainees alike, in innovation and invention. TCs may also become the platform to nurture and kickstart affiliations with industries by opening doors to enhance productivity.
TCs at GMI are set up with the aim of providing training facility to complement GMI training approach and philosophy, as well as knowledge-sharing between parties involved. Currently, GMI is complemented by Emerson Process Management and Romstar. With the abundant available space, GMI welcomes organizations which are driven by similar quest for technology advancement.
