GMI Campus, 5 March 2024 –The German-Malaysian Institute (GMI) hosted a highly successful Industry Advisory Council (IAC) Summit on Tuesday, 5 March 2024, at the Feisol Hassan-Halle, GMI Campus, Kajang. The event brought together key stakeholders, industry leaders, and experts to explore the theme “Malaysian Landscape: Towards Professional TVET.”
Led by the Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia and Chairman of the National TVET Council, Dato’ Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid bin Hamidi, the IAC Summit provides a platform for collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and strategic discussions to shape the future of TVET and the industrial landscape in Malaysia. Participants and members of the IAC engage in meaningful conversations, gain insights from prominent industry players, and contribute to the advancement of its practices.
The event commenced with warm notable speech delivered by Datuk Wira Dr. Asyraf Wajdi bin Dato’ Dusuki, the Chairman of MARA, who addressed the TVET ecosystem in Malaysia; and a keynote speech from Dr. Eva Langerbeck, Executive Director (ad-interim) of the Malaysian-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MGCC), who shared insights into the success story of TVET in Germany.A dialogue session that explored the theme of the event was also highlighted, featuring esteemed speakers Mr. Klaus Landhaeusser, Managing Director of Robert Bosch Sdn Bhd; Mr. Nazrul Aziz, Group Chief Strategy Officer of Talent Corporation Malaysia Berhad (TalentCorp); and Mr. Solihin Yusoff, Chief Executive Officer of the German-Malaysian Institute, moderated by Ms Michelle Abu Bakar of MGCC.
The summit reached its pinnacle with the inaugural speech by the Chairman of the National TVET Council, Dato’ Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid bin Hamidi, marking a pivotal moment and the highlight of the event. This was followed by a significant signing ceremony for the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between GMI, Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL), and GIATMARA with their respective industries, signifying a commitment to collaborative efforts in advancing the TVET sector.
A ceremony to officially appoint members of the Industry Advisory Council was also held. Along with the German-Malaysian Institute, members of the IAC are as follows:
