04 July 2024, Kajang – German-Malaysian Institute (GMI) hosted a delegation of esteemed German solution providers specializing in the education and training industry. This event, co-hosted by GMI in collaboration with the Malaysian-German Chamber of Commerce & Industry (MGCC), was part of MGCC’s strategic initiative to facilitate a business initiation trip for German solution providers to Malaysia, with a focused emphasis on the Education & Training Industry. Supported by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action, this Market Development Project aimed to showcase Germany’s leading expertise in education and training solutions.
The German education and training system stands out globally for its exceptional quality and comprehensive opportunities for professional development across various sectors. The dual education system, akin to Malaysia’s TVET framework, emphasizes a balanced approach to theoretical knowledge and practical skills, fostering highly skilled professionals prepared for the demands of the global workforce.
The event encompassed a robust Conference and Business Matching Event from 3rd to 4th July 2024 at Sheraton Imperial Hotel Kuala Lumpur, where German and Malaysian stakeholders engaged in presentations, knowledge sharing sessions, and individual business meetings. This platform provided an invaluable opportunity for stakeholders from both nations to explore collaborative ventures and exchange insights into advancing educational standards and methodologies.
B2B Matching: Visit and Roundtable Discussion at GMI
Upon arrival at GMI, nine (9) German business delegation was warmly welcomed by the institute’s management team, led by CEO Tn. Hj. Ahmad Solihin bin Mohamed Yusoff. These distinguished German business leaders’ companies were:

The visit commenced with a comprehensive tour showcasing GMI’s expertise and capabilities. The visiting include visits to the gallery of the Mechanical Engineering Department, the Cybersecurity lab of the Computer & Information Department and the Autotronics Workshop of the Electrical Engineering Department.
Following the tour, the delegates gathered in the Senate Room for a detailed presentation on GMI’s mission, academic programmes, and the array of services it offers to support industry needs. This set the stage for a dynamic roundtable discussion, where nine distinguished German business leaders engaged in fruitful dialogue with GMI representatives and government agencies from TVET Council and Department of Skills Development, Ministry of Human Resources.
The roundtable discussion focused on collaborative initiatives that could drive mutual growth and innovation in the education and training sectors. Participants from both sides expressed optimism about the potential for joint projects that could benefit Malaysian and German industries, highlighting opportunities to promote respective products and services.
In conclusion, the visit and roundtable discussion underscored the significance of international collaboration in advancing educational standards and preparing skilled professionals for global competitiveness.
