There are different types and construction of dies applied in manufacturing; one particularly applied are draw dies. The highlight of this course is to expose students to various types of proven industrial draw dies. Students are also taught the design techniques for product design, deep drawing parameters and stages, blank size design, strip layout, plan of lower die, plan of upper die, sectioning views and press machine used for drawing processes and structure of draw dies.
Course Objectives
- Explain and recognize the stages and steps involved in dies design especially in deep drawing die
- Calculate the parameters involved in die designing such as bending data and formula and material thickness
- Define the design alterative
- Design and produce simple product, metal strip blank and strip layout for deep drawing die
