General Appearance
To maintain the good image of the Institute, students are reminded to be appropriately attired in
a manner befitting the status of institute of higher learning’s students as well as the occasion
when you are on campus. (Refer to the GMI Dress Code Guidelines)
(a) Clothes and appearance
All students must dress appropriately in GMI premises – lecture theatre / tutorial
rooms / laboratories / workshop / library / offices.
(i) Students are required to put on the Corporate Jacket provided by the Institute to Corporate & formal functions (seminar / workshop);
(ii) Students are to wear proper, neat and tidy clothing for tutorial – Collar
Shirt / T-Shirt, Long Pants and covered Shoes;
(iii) Students are required to put on the dustcoats provided by the Institute
during workshop practices. They must also wear their safety boots;
(iv) Students are to wear proper sports attire during sports & recreation
activities;
(v) Students are required to display the Student Card at all times;
(vi) Students are not allowed to wear clothing with derogatory, offensive
and/or lewd messages either in words or pictures, as well as no
transparent and see-through clothing;
(vii) Students are not allowed to wear slippers, sandals, flip-flops or “open’~
shoes to the Institute at any time;
(viii) Body piercing (aside from earrings on girls) are prohibited.
(b) Short hair – No male students are allowed to have long hair or put on wigs.
Acceptable hair styles are: –
(i) Clean cut look – Hair must be well-groomed, not bushy.
(ii) Must not reach the eyebrows;
(iii) Must not touch the collar;
(iv) Must not cover both ears.
(v) No odd hair colourings or unnatural colours or styles are permitted
(unnatural tints, pointed hair spike hair).
