Industrial Quality Engineering Programme

Focuses on the knowledge and skills aspects in the field of inspection and quality engineering required by the industry. The program aims to produce skilled, competitive, scientifically-minded, creative, competent, and capable human resources in solving quality issues and problems at a workplace. The program develop students with the key skills in the field of quality such as aspects of planning, implementation, checking and corrective action on the problems faced by the industry in achieving their targets. Students are exposed to the standard systems as well as continuous improvement methods based on Total Quality Management (TQM).

Basic Courses

Students are also exposed with knowledge and skills in the field of calibration, geometrical dimensioning and tolerancing inspection, standards, auditing and analytical aspects. Based on high product quality requirements and skilled human capital, the program is equipped with advanced equipment in laboratories and workshop such as Metrology & Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM), Calibration, Computer Laboratory (Quality Software), Material Testing Laboratory and Conventional and Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machining workshops.

PLO 1 Knowledge:

Apply knowledge of applied mathematics, applied science, computing and engineering fundamentals and industrial quality engineering to wide practical procedures and practices;

PLO 2 Problem Analysis:

Identify and analyse well-defined industrial quality engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using codified methods of analysis specific to their field of activity;

PLO 3 Design/Development of Solutions:

Design solutions for well-defined industrial quality engineering technical problems and assist with the design of systems, components or processes to meet specified needs with appropriate consideration for public health and safety, as well as cultural, societal, and environmental considerations as required;

PLO 4 Investigation:

Conduct investigations of well-defined problems; locate and search
relevant codes and catalogues, conduct standard tests and measurements;

PLO 5 Tool Usage:

Apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering, computing and IT tools to well-defined industrial quality engineering problems, with an awareness of the limitations;

PLO 6 The Engineering Technician and The World:

Consider sustainable development impacts to society, the economy, sustainability, health and safety, legal frameworks, and the environment, in solving well-defined engineering problems;

PLO 7 Ethics:

Understand and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of technician practice and including compliance with national and international laws. Demonstrate an understanding of need for diversity and inclusion;
