Manufacturing System Programme

Manufacturing System (MFS) is a program that emphasizes the interrelationships between manufacturing equipment, processes and controls, and their integration into production factories. The combination of technological knowledge of high-tech production systems and knowledge of production processes is essential for manufacturing organizations to be efficient, innovative and sustainable in the increasingly competitive markets.

Programme Development

Based upon these challenges, this programme was developed to provide students with a broad knowledge, skills and attitude to perform tasks in designing, implementation, and efficient operation of manufacturing systems. Among the main technologies that will be used are robotics, programmable logic controllers, computer-integrated manufacturing and their application in automated production, assembly, automated inspection, and automated packaging. The state-of-the-art equipment including industrial robots, CNC Milling, CNC Turning, Computer Integrated Manufacturing System (CIMS) and fully automated Flexible Manufacturing System (FMS) are used to prepare the students with broad skills and multi-disciplinary competencies focusing on efficient production in technology-intensive manufacturing industries.

PLO 1 Knowledge:
Apply knowledge of applied mathematics, applied science, engineering fundamentals and a Manufacturing System Engineering to wide practical procedures and practices
 
PLO 2 Problem analysis:
Identify and analyse well-defined Manufacturing System engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using codified methods of analysis specific to their field of activity
 
PLO 3 Design/development of solutions:
Design solutions for well-defined Manufacturing System technical problems and assist with the design of systems, components or processes to meet specified needs with appropriate consideration for public health and safety, cultural, societal, and environmental considerations
 
PLO 4 Investigation:
Conduct investigations of well-defined problems; locate and search relevant codes and catalogues, conduct standard tests and measurements
 
PLO 5 Modern Tool Usage:
Apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools to well-defined Manufacturing System engineering problems, with an awareness of the limitations
 
PLO 6 The Engineer and Society:
Demonstrate knowledge of the societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to engineering technician practice and solutions to well-defined engineering problems
 
PLO 7 Environment and Sustainability:
Understand and evaluate the sustainability and impact of engineering technician work in the solution of well-defined engineering problems in societal and environmental contexts
 
PLO 8 Ethics:
Understand and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of technician practice
 
PLO 9 Individual and Team Work:
Function effectively as an individual, and as a member in diverse technical teams
 
PLO 10 Communications:
Communicate effectively on well-defined engineering activities with the engineering community and with society at large, by being able to comprehend the work of others, document their own work, and give and receive clear instructions

    – This contest is open to secondary school students born between January 1, 2007, and December 31, 2009.
    – Participants must follow at least one of the official social media accounts of the German-Malaysian Institute (GMI) to be eligible (Facebook, Instagram or Tiktok).
  2. Contest Participation
    – To enter the contest, participants must complete the quiz and submit their answers as instructed.
    – Participants are encouraged to create a unique and creative tagline related to GMI to increase their chances of winning.
  3. Agreement to Terms
    – By entering the contest, participants agree to abide by these terms and conditions.
    – Participants must ensure that their submissions comply with all guidelines provided.
  4. Prizes
    – Details of the prizes will be announced at the start of the contest.
    – Winners will be selected based on the accuracy of their quiz answers and creativity of their tagline.
  5. Selection of Winners
    – Winners will be notified through the social media platform where they entered the contest.
    – The decision of the contest organizers is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
  6. Privacy
    – Personal information collected during the contest will be used for the purpose of this contest and promotional activities and will be kept confidential.
  7. Liability
    The organizers reserve the right to disqualify any participant who violates these terms and conditions or engages in any fraudulent activity.
  8. Modification of Terms
