Penang, 30 September 2025 – Recognition has been formally accorded to the German-Malaysian Institute (GMI) by Mr. Hannes Farlock, Executive Director of the Malaysian-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MGCC), for its pivotal role in advancing vocational training. This appreciation acknowledges GMI’s advisory contributions to the MGCC Dual Vocational Training (GDVT) programme and its seat on the Penang Skills Development Centre (PSDC) GDVT Advisory Committee.

The presentation took place at a prestigious event celebrating the 10th Anniversary of the German Dual Vocational Training (GDVT) in Malaysia, held alongside the 8th Industry Outlook forum addressing “Malaysia’s Talent Crunch.” Representing GMI were Tuan Haji Ahmad Solihin bin Mohamed Yusoff, CEO and Managing Director, and Ts. Fahrul Rizal bin A. Halim, Deputy Managing Director of Academic and Operation.
The Deputy Chief Minister of Penang II, YB Tuan Jagdeep Singh Deo, and Her Excellency Silke Rieken-Daerr, the German Ambassador to Malaysia, graced the event. Their addresses underscored the critical importance of collaboration between industry and educational institutions.
Throughout the event, GMI contributed to vital dialogue addressing the national talent shortage and navigating the future of human-centric talent within an AI-driven world. These discussions align perfectly with the institute’s core mission to develop industry-ready graduates.
