Negeri Sembilan, 11 March 2026 – A total of 96 SPM leavers from Pahang, Perak, and Terengganu gained critical exposure to Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) pathways through the Get Ready for University Programme (GEAR Up!) 2026. Organised by the Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) Education Sponsorship Division, the programme ran from 9 to 11 March 2026 at Pusat Latihan Kenegaraan Ulu Sepri, Negeri Sembilan.

Participants visited German-Malaysian Institute (GMI) on 10 March 2026, where they received valuable exposure to technical career pathways and the institute’s educational offerings. Informative sessions covered academic opportunities, including an overview of the Young Talent Development Programme (YTP) MARA 2026.
A key highlight during their visit to GMI featured current YTP MARA scholars from GMI’s German University Preparatory Programme (GAPP). Scholars from Batch 2024 and 2025 shared their personal academic journeys, offering authentic and relatable insights to students navigating the critical post-SPM transition.
To solidify these insights, guided visits were arranged to five of GMI’s 22 Advanced Technology Centres, enabling participants to experience TVET applications firsthand:
- Cyber Schlachtfeld (Cyber Battlefield Centre)
- KUKA Industrial Robot Training Centre
- Hybrid & EV System Lab
- CNC DMG MORI Lab
- Additiv Zentrum (3D Printing Centre)
These visits translated abstract career concepts into tangible possibilities, helping participants visualise their potential roles in sectors that align with current industry demands.

Hosting GEAR Up! 2026 underscored GMI’s commitment to developing technically skilled graduates who are confident, well-informed individuals ready to contribute meaningfully to the workforce. Appreciation is extended to MARA, and every student is wished every success as they embark on the next chapter of their academic and career journeys.
