From GMI to Germany: GMI Celebrates 122 Graduates of the German University Preparatory Programme (GAPP) Class of 2026

Kajang, 5 February 2026 – The German University Preparatory Programme (GAPP) celebrated 122 students from Batch 2024, who successfully completed 20 months of intensive studies at the German-Malaysian Institute (GMI). The event was also attended by members of GMI Management Team, staff, and parents to honour the 2024 cohort’s academic excellence and readiness for further studies in Germany. 

Tuan Haji Ahmad Solihin bin Mohamed Yusoff, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of GMI, officiated the graduation ceremony.

Established in 2001, GAPP prepares students aspiring to pursue engineering studies in Germany. This 20-month preparatory programme follows the Cambridge Assessment International Education (CIE) curriculum and integrates rigorous academic instruction with practical training to meet international education standards.

World-Class Academic Honours

Two GAPP graduates received the prestigious Outstanding Cambridge Learner Award – Top in the World for Cambridge International AS Level Mathematics:

  • Wan Sharida binti Wan Shariman
  • Muhammad Aizam Daniel bin Abdul Rashid 
The ceremony also recognised subject-specific excellence:

  • Best Student Award in Mathematics – Muhammad Aizam Daniel bin Abdul Rashid
  • Best Student Award in Physics – Syahiran Nabeel bin Syahrunizam
  • Best Student Award in Chemistry – Aariz Mahmood Putera bin Zainudin
  • Best Student Award in German Language – Wan Sharida binti Wan Shariman
Aariz Mahmood Putera bin Zainudin received with the Most Outstanding GAPP Student Award, reflecting his consistent academic achievements throughout the programme.
Next Phase: Language Preparation in Germany

The majority of graduates will depart for Germany in early March 2026 to begin intensive language training. Five esteemed German institutions will support this transition:

  • Bildungskolleg Schumann, Weilheim
  • Sprachzentrale Leipzig, Leipzig
  • Institut für Internationale Kommunikation (IIK), Berlin
  • Institut für Internationale Kommunikation (IIK), Düsseldorf
  • Carl Duisburg Centren (CDC), Cologne

    – Participants are encouraged to create a unique and creative tagline related to GMI to increase their chances of winning.

    – Participants must ensure that their submissions comply with all guidelines provided.
  4. Prizes
    – Details of the prizes will be announced at the start of the contest.
    – Winners will be selected based on the accuracy of their quiz answers and creativity of their tagline.
  5. Selection of Winners
    – Winners will be notified through the social media platform where they entered the contest.
    – The decision of the contest organizers is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
  6. Privacy
    – Personal information collected during the contest will be used for the purpose of this contest and promotional activities and will be kept confidential.
  7. Liability
    The organizers reserve the right to disqualify any participant who violates these terms and conditions or engages in any fraudulent activity.
  8. Modification of Terms
    The organizers reserve the right to modify these terms and conditions at any time. Participants will be notified of any changes through the official GMI social media accounts.
  9. Acceptance
    By participating in the contest, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to these terms and conditions.
