Johor, 19 June 2025 – The G-BOT team, representing the GMI Robotics Society (GMIRS), earned 3rd place in Group C at the Robocon Malaysia 2025 competition, competing against the nation’s top robotics teams. The event ran from 16 to 19 June 2025 at Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM).
This year, GMIRS engineered an innovative robot utilizing 3D-printed components and pneumatic mechanisms to meet the competition’s challenges. The “Basketball Robot” theme required all teams to develop autonomous robots capable of:
- Dribbling, passing, and shooting into a 2.43-meter hoop
- Operating under a 20 second shot clock
- Executing strategic scoring with 2-7 points per shot, including slam dunks

The key challenges included:
- Precision programming for ball control and shooting accuracy
- Multi-robot teamwork (2 robots per team)
- Dynamic gameplay strategy
