Kajang, 26 June 2025 – BMW Group Malaysia visited the German-Malaysian Institute (GMI) to explore potential partnerships in technical education and workforce development. Mr. Sashi Ambi, Head of Corporate Communications at BMW Group Malaysia, led the delegation, which included senior representatives from the company’s training division.

During the meeting, both organisations explored multiple collaboration opportunities to bridge industry and academia. Proposed initiatives include enhancing GMI’s automotive curriculum with BMW’s expertise to align academic programmes with industry demands, establishing graduate trainee placements at BMW, and providing specialized language training for BMW employees. This partnership may also offer industry attachment programmes for GMI instructors.

With Malaysia pushing for greater EV adoption and smart manufacturing, this potential GMI-BMW collaboration could play a key role in upskilling and reskilling local talent. The partnership aims to combine German engineering expertise with Malaysia’s technical education framework to produce a workforce equipped for next-generation mobility.
While specific plans remain under discussion, this engagement highlights GMI’s ongoing commitment to fostering strong industry-education partnerships.
