Germany, 28 March 2025 – The German-Malaysian Institute (GMI) solidified its role as a visionary in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) by participating in Bildungsforum Asien 2025: German-Asian Forum on Vocational Education and Training in Hamburg, Germany. Organized by the OAV – German Asia-Pacific Business Association together with iMOVE: Training – Made in Germany, the event brought experts, and industry leaders to explore the latest TVET trends across the Asia-Pacific region and Germany.
Representing Malaysia’s education sector and Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA), GMI’s Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Tuan Haji Ahmad Solihin bin Mohamed Yusoff, delivered impactful insights alongside esteemed panelists, including Her Excellency Yeezhang De Thapa, Honorable Minister of Education and Skills Development of Bhutan; Ms. Azrina binti Hashim, Director of Industry Talent Management & Expatriate Division, Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA); and Mr. Tobias Bolle, Director of Vocational Education and Training Abroad, German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DIHK).
Mr. Enrico Rühle, Chairman of the OAV – Working Group and Chairman of the Advisory Board, FachkräfteWandel e.V., moderated the forum, which focused on strengthening educational cooperation between Germany and Asia, addressing challenges and opportunities for German education providers from industry and policy perspectives, and fostering collaborative training in key sectors such as building a future-ready workforce, semiconductor manufacturing, and traditional crafts like Zorig Chosum.

The event provided updates on the latest trends in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) across Asia and Germany, highlighting opportunities for collaboration and innovation. High-level policymakers, education experts, and industry leaders shared insights through keynote speeches and panel discussions, focusing on enhancing German-Asian educational cooperation, addressing challenges for German education providers in Asia, and exploring collaborative training in sectors like semiconductor manufacturing. Additionally, the forum offered valuable networking opportunities, connecting leaders from the German and Asian education sectors to foster future partnerships and collaborations.
