GMI Strategic Partnership: Empowering Malaysia’s Competitive Digital Workforce for the Future

Kajang, 12 November 2024 – The Department of Computer and Information, German-Malaysian Institute (GMI), recently hosted the Final Year Project Showcase for students of the Diploma in Network Security, Diploma in Creative Multimedia, and Diploma in Software Engineering. The event provided a platform for the students to showcase their innovative projects, along with cybersecurity talks, career-sharing sessions, and the presentation of special awards for outstanding student projects.

MoU as a Strategic Step to Empower Students

During this event, GMI further expanded its strategic collaboration by signing Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with CustomMedia Sdn. Bhd., Dotcom Telecommunications Sdn. Bhd. and Gemas Lestari Sdn. Bhd. This collaboration aimed to enhance digital competencies in critical areas such as cybersecurity, Internet of Things (IoT), software engineering, and Industry 4.0. Additionally, these collaborations are focused on developing student capacity through talent development programs aligned with industry needs, creating career opportunities and ensuring students are well-prepared to lead in Malaysia’s rapidly evolving digital landscape.

The main focus of these strategic collaborations are as follows:

  1. Dotcom Telecommunications Sdn. Bhd

With the digital revolution unfolding at a rapid pace, Dotcom Telecommunications Sdn. Bhd. is joining forces with GMI to create a transformative impact in cybersecurity, particularly penetration testing, Internet of Things (IoT), RF & Electronics Test & Measurement and industrial automation. This partnership offers students opportunities to gain practical skills and experience in navigating the increasingly complex digital world. Additionally, the collaboration provides pathways for students to develop their expertise in digital technologies and Industry 4.0, enhancing their career prospects and strengthening their skills. 

  1. Gemas Lestari Sdn. Bhd.

Through collaboration with Gemas Lestari Sdn. Bhd., GMI will further enhance its efforts in cybersecurity capacity-building, preparing students to meet the demands of the global job market. The primary focus is to train the next generation of professionals skilled in digital technologies and cybersecurity, with a particular emphasis on penetration testing. Furthermore, the partnership opens doors for research collaborations and career opportunities for students in the field of cybersecurity and digital technology. 

  1. CustomMedia Sdn. Bhd

The partnership with CustomMedia Sdn. Bhd. will provide students with practical knowledge and skills in software engineering and digital technologies. In addition, this collaboration will explore initiatives and platforms to promote digital technology learning, particularly in software engineering, and open up career opportunities within related industries.

Through these three strategic collaborations, GMI is committed to producing an innovative, competitive and industry-ready generation of professionals, prepared to contribute to the nation’s future. GMI will continue to play an essential role in bridging the gap between education and employment, ensuring that students gain the skills and knowledge required for success in the ever-evolving digital economy.

  1. Eligibility
    – This contest is open to secondary school students born between January 1, 2007, and December 31, 2009.
    – Participants must follow at least one of the official social media accounts of the German-Malaysian Institute (GMI) to be eligible (Facebook, Instagram or Tiktok).
  2. Contest Participation
    – To enter the contest, participants must complete the quiz and submit their answers as instructed.
    – Participants are encouraged to create a unique and creative tagline related to GMI to increase their chances of winning.
  3. Agreement to Terms
    – By entering the contest, participants agree to abide by these terms and conditions.
    – Participants must ensure that their submissions comply with all guidelines provided.
  4. Prizes
    – Details of the prizes will be announced at the start of the contest.
    – Winners will be selected based on the accuracy of their quiz answers and creativity of their tagline.
  5. Selection of Winners
    – Winners will be notified through the social media platform where they entered the contest.
    – The decision of the contest organizers is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
  6. Privacy
    – Personal information collected during the contest will be used for the purpose of this contest and promotional activities and will be kept confidential.
  7. Liability
    The organizers reserve the right to disqualify any participant who violates these terms and conditions or engages in any fraudulent activity.
  8. Modification of Terms
    The organizers reserve the right to modify these terms and conditions at any time. Participants will be notified of any changes through the official GMI social media accounts.
  9. Acceptance
    By participating in the contest, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to these terms and conditions.

By signing this consent form, I, as the participant (or the parent/guardian of the participant, where applicable), hereby consent to the collection, use, and processing of the personal information provided solely for the purpose of administering the GMI online quiz competition.
