KAJANG, 15 November 2023 – GMI student Ariana Nur Dania Binti Mohamad Zairi has qualified for the 2024 Olympics in the Archery category.
The Diploma in Engineering Technology (Product Design & Manufacturing), Mechanical Engineering Department student has earned her ticket to Paris at the Asian Continental Qualifiers Tournament in Bangkok last Friday (10 November) and the Continental Qualifying Tournament for the Paris Olympics 2024.
Ariana is in her first semester, making her the first GMI student to represent Malaysia in the Olympics. During the qualifiers, she shot a total of 649 points in the 70-metre (36 arrows) ranking rounds. She has also set a new national record of 337 points, beating the previous mark of 331 set in 2016 by another athlete in the 2016 Malaysia Games.
Ariana is the fourth Malaysian to have qualified for the 2024 Olympics.
