Kajang, 8 November 2025 – Final year students from the German-Malaysian Institute (GMI) unveiled an innovative Sustainable Energy Integrated Project at the 31st Convocation Ceremony, marking the first major deliverable of a strategic partnership with Bubbles O2 Sdn Bhd.
Activated by a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) Exchange Ceremony on 14 August 2025, this industry-funded initiative enabled a team of interdisciplinary students from the Electrical Engineering Department, Mechanical Engineering Department, and Computer & Information Department to develop a functional renewable energy system.

The project was presented to a distinguished audience, including:
- Ms. Ulrike Wolf, Deputy Head of Mission of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Malaysia
- YBhg. Dato’ Seri Hassan bin Malek, Member of the MARA Council
- YBhg. Dato’ Zulfikri bin Osman, Director General of MARA
- YBhg. Ir. Dr. Mahzan bin Teh, Deputy Director General of MARA
- YBhg. Tuan Haji Ridhwan bin Abd Yazid, Director of Construction and Maintenance at MARA and member of the GMI Board of Directors
- YBhg. Ts. Puan Hajah Zuleah binti Darsong, Director General of the Department of Skills Development (JPK) and member of the GMI Board of Directors.
- Mr. Hannes Farlock, Executive Director of Malaysian-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MGCC)
- Senior leadership from Bubbles O2 Sdn Bhd, including shareholders Mr. Mohd Zaffarin bin Abdul Ghaffar and Mr. Ismayuddin bin Marwan; Logistic Director Mr. Abdul Malek bin Ahmad; Plant Director Mr. Shaharullah bin Nyata, and Marketing Manager Ms. Amirah Farhana binti Amir.

Demonstrating GMI’s commitment to sustainability and technology-driven education, the project serves as a dynamic applied learning platform. It integrates sensor networks, microcontroller systems, and real-time data analytics to create an engaging hands-on experience, effectively bridging fitness technology with practical renewable energy solutions.
This successful showcase underscores the effectiveness of GMI’s industry-linked TVET model in fostering practical innovation and skill development, reinforcing its role in preparing a skilled engineering workforce for Malaysia’s sustainable energy transition.
