Mesmerising the Late Datuk Muhammad Feisol
A special tribute video was presented to honour the remarkable contribution of GMI’s beloved founder, Allahyarham Datuk Muhammad Feisol bin Haji Hassan, who passed away on 24th October 2024. Since the establishment of GMI, Allahyarham Datuk Muhammad Feisol never missed a convocation and was always present to celebrate the achievements of our graduates.
GMI Upgradation to University College Status
This year’s convocation not only celebrated the achievements of its graduates but also highlighted GMI’s upgradation into GMI-University College of Applied Sciences (GMI-UcAS), making GMI the first of its kind in Malaysia to hold this status. This upgrade was officially approved by the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE), further solidifying GMI’s role in producing highly skilled professionals to meet the demands of a global workforce.
With full support from the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKDW), Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) and Malaysian-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MGCC), this transformation aligns with Malaysia’s long-term vision of increasing the competitiveness and sustainability of the workforce through technical and vocational education and training (TVET).
Looking Ahead
Tuan Haji Ahmad Solihin bin Mohamed Yusoff, Chief Executive Officer of GMI in his speech also introduced the tagline for GMI:
‘This is German-Malaysian Institute, it is all about applied science, the rest is technology’
GMI has also announced several key advancements that will further enhance its educational offerings, including becoming the first TVET institution in Malaysia with Tesla technology for automotive training, upgrading its field to FIFA-standards synthetic field with added archery and golf simulation facilities next year, launching the IoT of Fruits initiative to produce fresh produce as part of its environmental, social and governance (ESG) efforts, partnering with VfL Wolfsburg and the Football Association of Selangor to enhance football training and being officially approved as an IELTS Test Center by the British Council, with the first exam scheduled for January 2025.
GMI extends its deepest congratulations to all graduates and gratitude to the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE), Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKDW), Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA), the Malaysian-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MGCC), our industry partners, stakeholders, sponsors, the media and all those who have supported us in this transformative journey.
