Kajang, 14 July 2026 – A high-level delegation from Yayasan Sabah and University College Sabah Foundation (UCSF) paid a reciprocal visit to the German-Malaysian Institute (GMI) following GMI’s earlier engagement in Sabah. The delegation was jointly led by Tuan Haji Hanafiah Diman, Corporate Secretary of Yayasan Sabah, and YBhg. Datuk Dr. Rafiq Idris, Vice-Chancellor of UCSF.
The visit aimed to deepen mutual understanding and explore potential avenues for expanding Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) access for Sabahans. During the engagement, both parties delved into several key areas, including sponsorship opportunities, structured academic pathway programmes, GMI’s micro-credential and pre-skill offerings, and promotion initiatives for GMI’s programmes across Sabah to facilitate Sabah student enrolment at GMI.

The delegation gained valuable insights into how GMI integrates an emerging technology-driven education approach that directly responds to current industry demands. The tour included:
- Additiv Zentrum (3D Printing Centre)
- Mini Cinema & 2D Lab
- Video Editing & Sound Recording Lab
- Cyber Schlachtfeld (Cyber Battlefield Centre)
- Hybrid & EV System Lab
At GMI, we remain committed to empowering youth in Malaysia with industry-relevant skills and fostering strategic engagements that strengthen the TVET ecosystem, ensuring that graduates are well-prepared to meet the evolving demands of a rapidly changing global economy.
