25 July 2024, Kajang – In a vibrant display of international educational exchange, the German-Malaysian Institute (GMI) recently hosted the 10th group of students from Busan National Mechanical Technical High School (BMTHS), South Korea. This workshop, dedicated to enhancing English communication skills through project-based learning, marked a significant milestone in GMI’s commitment to nurturing global perspectives among students.
Led by Mr. Junghwan Bok, Head of Department Academic Affairs of BMTHS, the group of 24 students, accompanied by four teachers, embarked on a transformative journey from 16 July to 25 July 2024. The initiative not only aimed to elevate participants’ language proficiency but also immersed them in a new cultural milieu, enriching their educational experience.
The workshop commenced with an opening ceremony graced by the Deputy Managing Director of Corporate Services of GMI, Ts. Dr. Muhamad Farid bin Daud, who delivered inspiring remarks, on behalf of GMI’s CEO, encouraging students to embrace the opportunity to develop not only their language skills but also their collaborative and critical thinking abilities. Throughout the workshop, students engaged in project-based activities designed to foster creativity and teamwork, essential skills for success in today’s globalized world.
The GMI community wholeheartedly supported the BMTHS delegation, providing a nurturing environment that facilitated learning and personal growth. The students’ progress was evident, culminating in a closing ceremony on 25 July 2024, attended by the Deputy Managing Director of Academic & Operation of GMI, Ts. Fahrul Rizal bin A. Halim. The event celebrated the students’ achievements, highlighted by their impressive project presentations and enhanced communication skills.
Reflecting on their journey, it was clear that the students had not only improved their language proficiency but also gained confidence in expressing themselves to diverse audiences from different cultural backgrounds. The workshop encouraged students to build lasting friendships, laying a foundation for continued language and intercultural communication development beyond their time at GMI.
In conclusion, the Effective English Communication Skills Workshop at GMI was a resounding success, leaving a lasting impact on all participants. It underscored GMI’s dedication to fostering global competencies and preparing students for future academic and professional endeavours. As the students return to South Korea, their enhanced skills and newfound confidence will undoubtedly propel them towards greater success in an increasingly interconnected world.
