Kajang, 10 March 2025 – The German-Malaysian Institute (GMI) celebrates a significant milestone with the first harvest of Golden Rock Melons under its innovative IoT of Fruits Project. After months of dedicated effort and the application of cutting-edge technology, approximately 75 Golden Rock Melon trees—out of 350 planted—are now ready for harvest. This achievement marks a transformative step in sustainable agriculture and technical innovation.
This pioneering IoT-based fruit project is an initiative that originated as a Final Year Project (FYP) by one of GMI’s students, highlighting innovative thinking in sustainable farming practices. These melons represent the seamless integration of traditional farming with modern technology.
The IoT of Fruits Project goes beyond agriculture—it highlights GMI’s commitment to innovation in technical and vocational education. By addressing global challenges in farming, the project demonstrates how technology can drive sustainable solutions and create new opportunities for the future.
As GMI celebrates this first harvest, the institute looks forward to further successes in the coming months. This initiative isn’t just about harvesting melons; it’s about cultivating a future where technology and agriculture work hand in hand to solve real-world problems.
