Putrajaya, 13 November 2024 – In a moment of pride for the German-Malaysian Institute (GMI), Abdul Muizz bin Affandi, a 5th-semester student of the Diploma in Engineering Technology (CNC Precision Technology) programme, emerged victorious with a Gold Medal in the Prototype Modelling category at the WorldSkills Malaysia Youth (WSMB) competition. His exceptional skill and dedication earned him top honours, setting a new benchmark for excellence. Meanwhile, Muhammad Hafiz bin Adnan, a Principal Technical Training Officer in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, also showcased remarkable expertise and won a Bronze Medal in the CNC Milling category at the WorldSkills Malaysia Trainers (WSMP) competition. His achievement reflects the quality of mentorship and technical mastery that GMI is known for.
Organised by the Ministry of Human Resources (KESUMA), this prestigious annual event honours individuals who have demonstrated exceptional skills and commitment in the fields of technical and vocational education, further promoting the importance of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Malaysia. To note, 37 fields were contested in the youth category (WSMB) and 7 in the trainers’ category (WSMP).
By earning these prestigious accolades, GMI’s students and trainers have not only reinforced the institute’s reputation for excellence but have also set a shining example for the future of technical education. These achievements stand as a testament to the power of hard work, passion, and innovation in shaping the next generation of skilled professionals.
