On 8 August 2024, Busan Middle School Principals Experience GMI’s Innovative PBL Program as part of a cultural and educational exchange through the 2024 Overseas Teacher Program, a delegation of ten middle school principals from Busan, South Korea visited the German-Malaysian Institute.
The visit focused on exploring GMI’s acclaimed student Problem-Based Learning program and its potential application in the Korean education system. The delegation, representing ten prominent Busan middle schools, was led by Madam Lee Sang Mi, Principal of Banyeo Middle School. The participating schools included:
- Shindo Middle School
- Jaesong Girls’ Middle School
- Banyeo Middle School
- Hanbada Middle School
- Yangdong Girls’ Middle School
- Gaerim Middle School
- Dongju Middle School
- Chojang Middle School
- Nakdong Middle School
- Donghang Middle School
The event commenced with welcoming remarks from Ts. Fahrul Rizal A. Halim, DMD of GMI, followed by insights from a representative of the Busan Middle School delegation.
After opening remarks from both GMI and the delegation, Ms. Hafidzah Ahmad gave a presentation about GMI’s approach to Problem-Based Learning. The delegation then toured the library and a PBL room before their departure.
This visit signifies a valuable opportunity for cross-cultural learning and collaboration in education. The insights gained from GMI’s PBL program are expected to inspire new pedagogical approaches and strengthen the ties between the educational communities of South Korea and Malaysia.
