Visit of Distinguished Delegates From The State Of Perak And “Program Himpunan Wira Siswa 2024”
21 May 2024, Kajang – On Tuesday, 21st May 2024, at 9 AM, the esteemed delegates from the State of Perak graced the halls of GMI with their presence. Among the distinguished guests were Dr. Nasreen Khanum Nawab Khan, General Manager of YAYASAN PERAK and Mr. Muhammad Nabil bin Saleh, Exco Pendidikan of PEMUDA UMNO Perak.
During their visit, the delegates were immersed in a series of engaging activities meticulously arranged to introduce them to the essence of GMI and explore potential collaborations, particularly in offering Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) to Perak state-born students.
The itinerary commenced with a comprehensive presentation on GMI, shedding light on its ethos, academic offerings, and its pivotal role in shaping future leaders in the field of technology and engineering.
Following the enlightening presentation, the delegates embarked on a captivating tour of the Mechanical Engineering Department Gallery, where they witnessed firsthand the cutting-edge facilities and innovative projects spearheaded by GMI’s talented students and faculty members.
The highlight of the visit culminated in a tour of the Autotronics Technology Complex & Cyber Schlachtfeld, showcasing GMI’s commitment to staying at the forefront of technological advancements and providing students with a conducive environment to hone their skills.
The primary objective of the visit was to foster collaboration between GMI and esteemed institutions in Perak, with a specific focus on extending TVET education opportunities to Perak state-born students. Through synergistic partnerships, both GMI and Perak aim to empower the youth with the necessary skills and knowledge to thrive in the ever-evolving landscape of technology and engineering.
In addition to the visit, GMI co-hosted the “Programme Himpunan Wira Siswa 2024” in collaboration with Yayasan Pelajaran MARA (YPM). The event, held at the Feisol Hassan-Halle, commenced at 11:00 AM and was graced by YBhg. Datuk Dr. Asyraf Wajidi bin Dato’ Dusuki as the Guest of Honour. Esteemed guests included Encik Faisalludin bin Mohamat Yusoff, CEO of YPM; Encik Ahmad Solihin bin Mohamed Yusoff, CEO of GMI, MARA, other institutions of higher learning, and various dignitaries were also present.
The cornerstone of this year’s programme was the One-Off Education Endowment Fund Scheme (SDEP), a generous contribution from YPM aimed at providing financial assistance to deserving students. With a total amount of RM361,000.00 allocated, 379 carefully selected students from 9 prestigious higher learning institutions, like UITM, GMI, UMT, UKM, UPM, USIM, UniKL dan UIA, were slated to benefit from this endowment. However, the spirit of generosity transcended mere numbers, as the true essence of the programme lay in its impact on individual lives. Despite the meticulously laid plans, only 293 students graced the event with their presence. Nevertheless, the significance of the occasion remained undiminished, serving as a testament to the unwavering commitment of YPM towards uplifting the educational landscape of Malaysia.
